Greetings sent by Secretary General of IOF to South China Historical Road Orienteering Championship

 I am very pleased to visit the South China Historical Road and to join the 2017 Guangdong Historical Road Orienteering event.

The 2017 Guangdong Historical Road Orienteering event, with the greatest support of the Guangdong regional government, is an important event for the International Orienteering Federation.

Orienteering is a sport for all, and a sport for life. The orienteering events held along the South China Historical Road are a perfect example showing how sport can be merged with culture and tourism , while learning like skills, to the benefit of society. Having mass participation events as part of the South China Historical Road brand, is important to The IOF as if gives excellent visibility to our sport.

Orienteering is also a sport which is conducted at the highest level of performance. The venues for the IOF would Ranking Events will provide challenge, excitement and beautiful historic surroundings, for some of the very best international elite athletes who are participating. The organization of IOF would Ranking Events is important for the Development of Orienteering in China, and in all of Asia.

I would like to thank the organizers and their financial supporters also for raising the visibility of orienteering and the IOF through the South China Historical Road website, and through the TV and web productions which will be provided from the event.  

Finally, I wish the organizer, sponsors, the government of the Guangdong region, and of course all participants, the very best success at the 2017 Guangdong Historical Road orienteering event, and the very best of times along the South China Historical Road.
